okay, sorry i've been bad about blogging. let me elaborate on las vegas.
the trip ended up being about 20% rock-n-roll and 80% personal vacation. i took
andrea, larry took amy, and scott took his friend rob. andrea and i flew out on the same plane as scott and rob. scott strolled onto the plane with no bags or luggage. nothing! i don't think i've ever seen someone do that. a guy like that deserves to be wanded and searched. very suspicious. after talking with rob andrea quickly named him "
griswald" due to his vast knowledge of vegas vacation tips. we stayed at the MGM grand where the
eat-m conference was being held. the place was HUGE. like a city. it was so big it even had three starbucks! i lost a few dollars in the slot machines the first night.
friday morning i checked us into the conference then headed over to the bellagio hotel for a one of the famous las vegas buffets. boy, was it good! i had eight desserts. friday afternoon i met up with the boys for a radio interview with
pulverradio.com. we surprisingly played it straight and didn't cause any trouble. i was dying to interrupt larry while he was answering a question to point out a dude with a mullet but i was a good boy and let him talk.
that night we played at the house of blues in the mandalay bay hotel.
cold memory, the band before us, let me borrow a guitar amp so i wouldn't have to use the crummy house amp. it was a fender just like mine so i was right at home. scott played a bright orange drum kit and larry took a mini version of his "
lux liner ted" pedal board. the conference had a big free party right before the show so the place was pretty packed. we were the second band and i felt really good about our show. we really rocked and people seemed to like it. it's so wild to play in front of energetic people that scream and dance around. we're used to the stoic nashville crowds. we had a big stack of free demo cds and when i announced that we were giving them away for free tons of people started coming up to the stage to grab them. that was pretty cool. we're used to people running as far away from our merch as possible. after the show we watched a couple other bands then split up for the remainder of the trip.
and for those of you that care, here's the setlist:
1. sunshine 2. fifteen again 3. it's you 4. restless 5. over bored 6. equasue 7. breaking out
andrea and i made it a goal to see as many of the elaborate hotels and casinos as possible. my feet and back regret that decision. we ate more good food and i won $50 playing "wheel of fortune" slots. i gave the money to andrea and she played pai gow poker for several hours at new york new york, eventually losing all the money. but we had fun. on saturday larry and scott spent some time at the MGM grand swimming pools and lazy river. we saw larry and amy at the coke store where i bought a vanilla coke. they tipped us off that the m&m store had new carmel m&m's. very interesting. scott and griswald almost saw
the eagles in concert at the hard rock and they spent a lot of time at the ESPN Zone. we all flew back to nashville on sunday and scott once again walk onto the plane with both hands in his pockets. i tell you what...
