haven't we been through this before? we've been hearing rumors for weeks but it looks like air jordan really is going to be lacing up his er..., um..., "air jordan's" again. now i'm a really big believer in mr. jordan and i think he was awesome and all that. but shouldn't he be thinking about the magic johnson factor?

former star, retires to cush front office position, becomes unsatisfied with pathetic team, trades his neck tie for the musty old sweatbands, joins the team again, gets hurt, then retires, again.

thanks for sharing the scott link larry. i had no idea he already had such a strong web presence. our show last friday went pretty good. it was really relaxed and fun in my opinion. lots of luxury joking and goofing off. since we were playing at a bookstore, the audience was able to read magazines and books while we jammed so i'm sure they enjoyed that. we took a break halfway through so we could mix and mingle with everyone. it was a really nice evening. highlights included the stevie nicks ticket giveaway, back to the future spoof, and two new songs. yes, we played a couple new songs called sunshine and dreaming. (sorry for the one word titles. we're not trying to be creed or anything, they just sounded best.) i know i had a good time playing the new ones and i don't think anyone even noticed me reading the lyrics. the borders management gave us a couple tickets to the stevie nicks show this weekend to raffle off. we decided to have a "guess the luxury lyric" contest. brad miles from jackson swing won the contest. "bleeding ears at the end of time" was the lyric. he yelled out "shake it up" before anyone else could. no one guessed the first lyric "though pidgeon fed he could brave this water" from "the duke of gloucester." i also did a tribute to "back to the future" and sang that old song earth angel. i dedicated it to shannon hinkle because she loves back to the future. big thanks goes out to everyone that came and we hope to see you again soon!

well, i finally have something very un-tragic to report. wilco, one of my absolute favorite bands, are streaming their brand new unreleased album, yankee hotel foxtrot, from their website. don't hear no "passenger side" and i couldn't be happier. this must be how it felt to be a beatles fan back in the 60's. awesome.

it feels dumb to talk about band stuff right now. our prayers should continue to be focused on the victims, their families, and our nation. big props to george w. last night!

Tuesday, September 11

it's a sad day in america. let's pray for the victims and their families.

note to self. never ride bike to work again. ouch! now i know why why they call my neighborhood sylvan heights.

wow wee! our friends jackson swing just posted some new mp3s on their website. they write really rocking and colorful songs that end up being stories sung with three-part harmony. the new songs are called golden and pitiful and they can be found on the band's music page. i'm just glad to hear some of the newer concert material finally committed to tape. it all sounds good to me! besides being a rock band, they're also are doing a worship thing these days. an alter ego of sorts. some of those songs are posted on their page as well. enjoy. www.jacksonswing.com

i also wanted to bring attention to our friends in jetpack. if i haven't already mentioned it, i think they are neat and they have a new website with music, pictures, and band gossip. www.jetpackrock.net

well my solo show went pretty good i guess. i'd never stood on stage by myself for an entire concert before so that was kinda strange. took me a while to get used to the acoustic thing and knowing that i was "the boring acoustic guy" for the night. i thank the few people that came to see me. let's see, i might as well thank them by name. thanks to andrea, jennifer, trina, amy, david, brian, and mike. if i forgot anyone one it's becasue you didn't say hi. it felt good to play to an audience. i don't think the rest of the people there came to see me but they seemed pretty into what i was doing. and what was i doing you ask? well i played luxury liners songs, foxymorons songs, and told self-depreciating jokes. i hadn't planned on being the funny guy up there. i thought that stuff was reserved for the luxury liners... but i guess it's a habit now. the david dewese concert formula: play serious rock song then make fun of self.

i'll try to remember the setlist:
1. it's you - to get me warmed up
2. without you - i had a hard time singing this acoustic
3. fifteen again - i missed scott and larry's echoes
4. baby blue - welcome to the foxymorons
5. lazy librarian's son - this'll be on the next foxy album
6. i love you - oldie
7. i wanna be with you - another oldie that felt good
8. tell me tonight - short little david song
9. waiting for the sun - i missed the band on this one
10. something out there - i had to laugh on the bridge
